Can an HOA go on your property without contacting you first?????

Hello,

My HOA recently cut a lock on my fence to allow some people to do work on my building. I was never notified.

Worst, the lock hasn't been replaced to this date, and I just found out that they cut the lock over a week ago.

And, to top it off, they didn't even bother to call me, but found time to track down my realtor to get "permission" to cut the lock on my fence.

Does my HOA have the right to act in such a reckless manner????

At this point, my gate has been left wide open and there may be robberies and vandalism to my property and I couldn't do a thing to prevent it.

I would understand if they had an emergency or couldn't locate me, but they didn't even bother calling me.

How do I handle this?

I tried talking to the HOA about this and I don't know if they are not that bright upstairs or just don't care....

It depends.... Do you live

It depends....

Do you live in a condo, townhouse, or single family home?

In a condo they own the outside, so they were gaining access to thier property to maintain it.

If you live in a house and own the land, then they are guilty of breaking and entering and tresspass.

You would assume that even

You would assume that even if they own the outside, the HOA would send a letter informing you of the intent to fix the issue.

I assume the lock belonged to you?
