Video Surveillance

Our HOA board recently decided and installed a video surveillance system in and around our pool and common areas. No one was notified and no one likes it.

The worst part of it is the live video feed is sent directly to the HOA president( dictator junta ) computer. We have recently discovered the video files are archived on his personal computer as well. He also has complete freedom to view the files or watch the live fee whenever he wants. You can just imagine the possibilities for abuse. Several neighbors have allready complained of rude and intimidating behavior exhibited by this individual.

Is this legal?

What can we do to fight this guy?

Please help.

This is easy - since no one

This is easy - since no one likes, it is easy to change.
It would be a bigger problem if you had complaints from the owners around the pool about violations
in the pool and commone areas, and vandalism, etc.

The directors can easily be recalled and replaced by the HOA members. Get a petition together and have a meeting
of the members and one or more of the board members can be replaced.

Easier would be to get the petition, or just a group of 10% (or at least 5 or 6 if your HOA is bigger than 50)
of the owners at the next board meeting. THat would sway most reasonable boards if you are organized.

But since you seem to think the HOA president is a dictator, you may need help from someone who can effectively deal with
people and contracts (CC&R rules one baord members and meetings, etc.).

We are under construction

We are under construction for ungrading our Security system...not to spy on the members, but because of vandalism... caused by members.. We can also watch the camera's from "home computers"... I honestly never thought about the yuck factor, until you mentioned it..But then, the security co. is watching also...

I system has always been there, but now that we, the BOD members will have access to them, it might be a good idea to re-think that possibility, plus, knowing me, I'd be up all night waiting for the bad guy to appear.

We have a problem with our

We have a problem with our washer leaking into the vents. Is this a HOA problem?
