HOA Nut House

I also need help. Many homeowners either don't want a hoa or claim to just like how the hoa keeps their home value up. Yeah right! We moved in a neighborhood in Jan. 09. The first week we lived here we received a letter about our trash cans, car on yard, bike in yard and two small gas cans threating to fine us. Second letter we received about our dogs running loose, which they didn't. We also was told that my children could not ride a scooter. Each above was being done or had been done by someone in the neighborhood. Also scooters are allowed.

Yes, knew of he HOA before moving in and thought it would be a great idea. WRONG!!! BOARD members are in a click and have very serious power struggles issues.

We had to get rid of two of our dogs to move there. But have to take them back for a short period of time because they could not take care of them. Then came more letters and sure we abidded. However at the board hearing I wanted to discuss other problems in the community. The board members tried to not let us talk about anything other then the topic. But we did anyway. I had spoke with a lawyer and was advised to abide by the rules, correct any problems and at the same time document other homeowners that are not abiding by the by-laws.
I did and I also took pictures and asked why were we targeted about these issues and others can do as the please. I was told that they have to pick and choose the issues at hand. My dogs running loose could cause a saftey issue and when they get a complaint they have to respond. I lisened to this about three times and then like up-chuck I blurtted out seeing a person walking with an open beer up and down the street and he also stopped to talk with my son once and got out of his vehicle with a beer can. And I thought this was more a safty issue then my dogs that won't and haven't hurt anybody and that they knew very well who I was talking about. Of course they become doumb-founded. I said no names but they knew I was talking about a person on their board.

Well, best for last. The member of the board was there at the meeting above. The first week police were call on several young boys that were roaming around our neighborhood. I was them, a few new my son, but he did not leave the house. Well a road check was put up on our road telling the police that there were kids causing trouble. road check- hummmm! somebody has pull. Well my sons name comes up in conversation that he was with these guys. I knew at that point that something was fishy! The next week, we see police officers next to one of the board members house. the same one who never knows what is going on The police were up on the hill looking in the field behind out house. Our dogs were barking crazy. I told my oldest son to get me a flashlight so I could see. He went up on our hill himself to see what was going on. Well, my son starts yelling that there was some people behind the trees and to call the police. At that time we were told to put our hands up and was being cursed at. My son calls 911 and then a shot gun and hand gun is cocked at us and we were told they were the gd police and we better put our hands up. My son tells the operator on the phone that we needed some ligit police out here because we were being yelled and cursed at by two people that claim they are police. At that time two other police officers come through our front door and through out house and out the bak door and handcuffed my son and myself. The sargent - with the shotgun- asked if he could talk to me in person. The police took off the handcuffs and went with me to a back room and told me that someone called and told them that we were growing marijuana on our fince and clearly this has been a mistake and that they are very sorry. I then told him about the trouble I was having with the HOA and he told me that he would document this very clearly for me in his report and gave me a report number and suggested I get a lawyer. More to the story but what do you think so far!
