How do I contact my HOA association?

I live in Maryland and own a property that is under a HOA. The HOA community is made up of thirty townhomes. Over the last few years, the HOA has declined. The previous president and other officers moved away so hardly anyone is operating the HOA. The community looks horrible in that lawns aren't cut, trash is kept in an alley between the townhouses, street lights are fused, and so on. The major problem that I'm facing is that I need another parking pass otherwise my tenant will move out. The HOA has strict parking regulations and each car after 9 must have a parking permit. My previous tenant lost their parking pass and i have no way of contacting the HOA association. We want to keep this tenant and feel that we need to do something about this association. Any suggestions? Who can we contact? What can we do? Is there someone I can contact in the county or local government to help?read more »

I purchased some land in a rural area and the land owner/developer added to the sales contract a HOA was to be formed by the people living in that area with a $100 per year fee to maintain the road. There were a total of 4 homes in the area.read more »

If I win my case in Court against my Board

I am heading into court against my Board in very near future. Our case is very strong, they instigated the litigation, not me, the lawyer wants to make money and he has indeed. The hearing is for Summary Judgement, if I prevail can I sue my Board back, the litigation is very uncalled for, weak and reaks of inconsistencies and lies, all that will come out in court.read more »

Honest to God, we have a hearing coming up that is so absurd, so dispicable, I am afraid the judge is honestly not going to believe it. We are being sued for parking in a place we dont park in, while another family parks there.read more »


Can non elected person file legal documents to collect money?

Well this is what happened in my neighborhood in Monument, Colorado.

We have a defunct for 6 years now HOA. Within our covenants we are a no fee or dues association. This one individual gets an idea to restart the HOA with no votes. He calls himself a Interim Board of Director. He decided on 9-24-2009 to file a legal document with the county saying that the Title Companies have to pay $150 basically to him as there is no elected or official board and this payment is to be sent to some pack & ship location that has mailboxes.read more »

Our home was painted in 2006 prior to our community receiving the approved paint palette in 2007. We requested the proper Architectural Review Committee (ARC) form from City Property Management (CPM) prior to painting and never received a response, so we painted. Our procedural error.
